Well, there's no point having a hobby-horse unless you ride it from time-to-time, and with no rugby to write about and, alas, no new signings to announce - the announcement of the new 2002/03 clothing range in the shop is an irresistible topic.

An whole-hearted welcome for the shop's first item of
clothing in Quins colours for some years - the Quins tee-shirt - and what a
fine garment it is! This couldn't be more welcome, congratulations to the
shop for yielding to fan pressure and including something in the range in
the famous colours. I'll be putting my money where my mouth is, and buying
this one. My one reservation? I was hoping for some outerwear in Quins colours, to wear over my shirt when it's cold, but perhaps the rain covers with the season tickets will do the job? I haven't seen them yet. But well done! |

I still don't get it! With the most famous colours in the world, why don't we use them more? What's with the pink, the navy blue, the red and the white? Why can't we make more use of the magenta, green, black brown and grey? |
| And what's with all the Mulberry? | |

Mulberry is fine colour, nothing against it at all, some of my best friends etc.....but it's not our colour (and it's so last season!). This is the one that really gets me - why don't we use magenta for all the garments on the left? It's not that different a colour even - but it's ours. On the positive side, we do seem to be using sky-blue (I can only assume it's the correct shade) but why not magenta? The quartered polo shirt would be great in magenta and (quins) blue. |

The polo shirts and t-shirts look fine to me,
with modern looking sleeves, and nice prominent logos. The Roma fleece (bottom left) is very nice I think - with a nice big prominent central logo - and no sponsorship (not even an NEC before the Quins) I like that, and nice to see use of grey (a quins colour) |

A waterproof 'Arctic' fleece with a nylon
outside and fleece material inside, and nice big logo Looks very practical
for the game - warm and shower-proof, just what you need for the South Stand.
I wonder what this would look like in magenta with grey flashes. Of course I
haven't seen it in the flesh, but I'm interested - and if it gets too hot I
can wear my t-shirt underneath instead of my shirt And lastly a nice-looking, modern looking training shirt - is that magenta under the arms? Let's assume so. |
| Overall Verdict Overall - not bad, Quins shop, not bad, and I am certain it will have me reaching for my wallet, so it will no doubt be successful in those terms....but....but....I'd still like to see some clever designers let loose with our colour palette |
