Player Evaluations 2004/5 Part II

By Mafia Quin
August 24 2005

Hopefully DOK will be running his popular Player Evaluation service this season once the league starts in earnest. So to give him some encouragement I set out below some analysis of the scores awarded throughout last season.

The following table shows the average score for the season, no of matches played, the 'improvement' (change) over the previous year's score, their average score for last season and the lowest and highest score obtained this season.

Minimum of 5 matches in order to be included. ( ) indicate the number of appearances as a replacement.

No player made a material improvement last season.  In fact of those 20 players who stayed with us 11 got average scores at least 0.50 worse than the previous year and 4 got average scores at least a staggering 0.90 worse.

Those players named in red are leaving us.  Looking at the list it would appear that Roy Winters was unlucky to be released having played in 22 of the 26 matches evaluated and virtually maintaining his form of the previous year.

There have been eight scores of 4.50 or greater:

Simon Keogh

Finally, the people without whom there would be no match.  The referees.

This shows the extremes of quality between those referring the ZP.  And the incredibly poor quality of some of the HC referees.  I hope we get some consistency in ND1.
