How You Can Actively Support the Rec Campaign

As the campaign to keep Bath Rugby at the Rec gathers momentum there will be many people asking what they can do to contribute. The key issue at present is building up the 'Keep Rugby at the Rec' petition and this is where everyone can definitely help.

Whilst a small army of very committed helpers have been "out on the streets" for the past four weeks, gathering tremendous support for Bath Rugby remaining on the Rec, we can't be complacent and must seek to sign up as many people as possible to demonstrate to the decision makers that losing Bath Rugby from the City centre must not be allowed to happen.

To help with building up the petition, the campaign organisers have arranged a Freepost system whereby anyone can gather signatures on a copy of the official petition and send it to a central collection point free of charge. A good way of using this system is for everyone reading this story to post an e-mail to all contacts who have a link to the City of Bath along the lines of:

Dear "Friend"

I attach a copy of the 'Keep Rugby at the Rec' petition, organised by Bath Rugby supporters. If you are supportive of this campaign, please do print a copy and collect signatures. Forms can be returned postage-paid, to:

FREEPOST KEEP RUGBY AT THE REC
11 Argyle Street
Bath, BA2 4BQ

Please ensure you do not collect duplicate signatures, and please do place an emphasis on giving people who live in the B&NES district the opportunity to read, and if they agree with what we are trying to achieve, sign the petition. People of any age may sign the petition, but if they are under 18, please could you ensure they put a note of their age in brackets next to their name.

Please click on this link to obtain background information which answers many of the questions and concerns that people have about development of the Rec. It's well worth having a read of this before trying to collect any signatures.

Please don't hesitate to e-mail me any other queries you have about it. If you do collect some signatures, we would also be very pleased to hear any questions that are put to you, as we are very keen to dispel the many myths that are out there about Bath Rugby's intentions.

A printable copy of the petition can be found here

Many thanks, your help will make a difference.
