Guernsey RFC player Luke Jones has signed for Cornish Pirates
Jones, 19, spent last season at the Leicester Tigers Academy but has agreed a move to the club that finished sixth in the Championship last year and could be playing against Jersey RFC in the Greene King Championship.
I know development in sport is good, but a Donkey/Pirate hybrid could be a lethal combination!!!
The full-back is one of 3 signings by Pirates alongside fellow backs Angus Sinclair and Mike Pope.
Head Coach Ian Davies is excited about the prospect of working with Jones as they look to reach the Aviva Premiership. He said:
“These three young players fit our recruitment policy set out to meet the club ambitions of being Premiership ready by 2016.
Luke Jones became the youngest player since England international Matt Banahan to feature in the Siam Cup in 2010, and in April 2012 became the first Channel Islander to play for England Under-18s.
The teenager joined Tigers from Guernsey RFC, who he helped to promotion to National 3 in 2012.
