Judging by the number of people falling fowl (sic) of various mystery ailments (no apparent casualties from bird flu yet) on the Wednesday following the Curry, it must have been a good night! The DW management team is pleased to announce the amount raised for the Alex King Benefit Year Fund is...

...£5000! Alex's three charities: SPARKS, The PRA Benevolent Fund, and ENCOMPASS will share this money between them.

On Tuesday evening, the 21st February, the team who organised the Alex King Benefit Year Supporters’ Curry Night invited Alex out for a meal at the Clay Oven in Ealing, and before sitting down to eat, presented Alex with a cheque for £5000.

This was made up of the profits from the evening (c. £1300); all the proceeds from the raffle, t-shirt and brochure sales on the evening (c £3100) and the figure was rounded up with money from the general DW Charity Fund.

This makes the amount of money the DWs have raised and donated to good causes over the years well in excess of £10,000.

Speaking at the dinner, Barney Burnham said “Pass the wine, please”.

For those of a culinary bent, starters were ordered and took an hour and a half to cease coming out of the kitchen. A number of the less hardy attendees forewent their main course and went straight to the chocolate.
