Connacht’s flying winger Fetu’u Vainikolo has been called into the Tongan Pacific Nations Cup squad.

Head Coach Toutai Kefu has called on 28 players from across the globe to compete in the annual tournament which is being hosted by Japan and Fiji next month with Samoa and Tonga making up the 4 team competition.

Fetu’u scored a superb try in Tonga’s 31-18 victory over Japan in Whangarei, New Zealand during last year’s World Cup and has been a star performer for Connacht all season. As well as helping Connacht overcome Harlequins in the Heineken Cup this year Fetu’u has been a regular fixture in the RaboDirect PRO12. With 11 league appearances on the wing Fetu’u scored in Connacht’s victory over Edinburgh as well as scoring a brace of tries against the Dragons in Rodney Parade last March.

He will join club players from across Europe including Gloucester’s Sione Kalamafoni, the Leicester Tiger’s Setven Mafi and Viliame 'Longi from the Scarlets as they look to take the championship crown from Japan when the competition kicks off on the 5th June.
