Floodlighting

Connacht Rugby and the Galway Greyhound Board will come together in May to bring you a unique sporting experience.

For Connacht's final three home games in May their new floodlights will be installed allowing for Friday night rugby in Galway. The games will kick off at 6:30pm and will precede an evening of Greyhound Racing at one of Ireland's premier tracks.

At a sod turning ceremony at half time in the Connacht v Llanelli Celtic League clash, Connacht Branch CEO Gerry Kelly thanked the Department of Arts Sports and Tourism and it's minister John O'Donoghue for the funding under the Sports capital programme and the National lottery for their funding.

One would assume that the statement from Connacht Rugby will mean that TV standard floodlighting is going to be installed, so that in future Connacht's evening (getting excited at the thought of it already..) will be able to be screened. The option to alternate matches to different timings and days, given what is already a packed sporting calendar should help encourage bigger crowds to the Sportsground.
