Peter Bracken is called in to the Ireland Squad

Former Connacht player Peter Bracken has been drafted into the senior Ireland squad for their Southern Hemisphere tour this summer. Bracken has represented Ireland at 'A' and Under-18 levels and this call up may culminate in his first senior cap for Ireland.

Former Connacht and current Wasps Prop Peter Bracken has been called into the Ireland Squad for the summer tour...

Wasps Prop Peter Bracken has been named in the Ireland squad to tour New Zealand and Australia as replacement for the injured Simon Best. Best fractured his leg while playing for Ulster against Llanelli in the Celtic League last Friday night.  The injury will require surgery and has unfortunately ruled him out of the tour. 

 

Bracken currently playing for London Wasps after a move from the Western province last summer has established himself in the Wasps XV and has participated in 22 of Wasps fixtures this season. Peter had a well documented knee injury earlier in the season that required over twenty stiches and that kept him out for over three months.

 

Peter has represented Ireland at 'A' and Under-18 levels and this call up may culminate in his first senior cap for Ireland.The inclusion of Bracken brings the number of uncapped players in the squad to three.

 

On behalf of all Connacht Supporters I congratulate Peter on this latest success, and hopefully he will return from the tour as another former Connacht player to have exchanged the Green of Connacht for the Green of Ireland.
