New Zealand winger Doug Howlett is out of contract and on the move. Reports about the 26 year old have been pouring since Howletts departure from the Kiwi squad in last months Lions test matches.

Howlett is looking to cut his losses and double his pay cheque by leaving Grahme Henry's New Zealand and take up a role with a European club, and the Blues management are just one of the clubs looking to intise the sensational winger to their squad. And more reports from BBC this week have feuled speculation that the his move is ominous.

Agent, David Jones, had little to say, playing down a move "It´s not as if Doug is anxious to do anything' but the fact his NZ contract is set to expire in the next few months seems to contradict this.

The four Welsh regions have all been following the star, but the Blues have an advantage having just secured his international and Super 12 partner Xavier Rush and also showing already that they will slash money where they believe nessacery.
