Blues flanker Martyn Williams looks set to stay at the captial, despite having talks with three French sides.Bairritz, Perpignan and Montferrand were all chasing the former Cardiff captain, but comments from Williams now suggest he will see out his new two year deal at least.

Martyn Williams, last years 6 Nations 'Man of the Tournament', said after the Blues mauling of thr Ospreys,

'I have had an approach from France but I have told those people I am in contract with the Blues.'

Having signed a 2-year deal before christmas, Williams' depature seemed impossible, but when reports of a French connection leaking just weeks after, it looked certain the flanker would go.

It caps of a great weekend on and off the feild for Cardiff, and is a signal of intent once more from the board to kep their best players.

However, it's strongly believed Blues target Matthew J. Watkins has no opted to stay with the Llanelli Scarlets.

Watkins was linked with the  three Welsh regions, and went through phases where it looked certain he'd sign for each, beofre eventaully re-signing with the West Walians.

Watkins has had a great year, and it's a shame the Blues couldn't land him, but with Stcherbina and Jamie Robinson in such good form, and Tom Shanklin to return from injury, it's not a massive loss for the capital.
