Following the terrific response to Gareth Finch’s suggestion to make a supporters section at the CCS, theArmsPark is delighted to announce ‘Project One-Twelve’...
Regardless of your stance whether the Cardiff Blues should or should not have moved to the Cardiff City Stadium, I think everyone would agree the atmosphere at the new ground has generally been very poor. There are certainly those of us out there who want to make some noise and be the 16th man for our Blues boys - as you can hear at all the away trips - however since we've lost our terraces, those of us are just too spread out to be heard.
So let's recreate that terrace culture!
‘Project one-twelve' has been created by organiser Gareth Finch, in a bid to ‘connect fans who are committed to improving the atmosphere and enjoyment at the CCS'.
For those of us lucky enough to have been in Marseilles on that fateful day in May, we know just how loud Cardiff fans can be, outnumbered at roughly 90-1, it was certainly a challenge, but despite the ferocious French frenzy of noise, ‘Bread of Heaven' could still be heard! Finch says,
‘It was an idea that originated in Marseille, for less than a thousand of us to be able to sing as we did, it dawned to many of us that if we got pockets of us together in the CCS we could really make a difference and of course have a lot of fun in the process.'
So section 112 on the Ninian Stand has been the chosen destination for fans who want to come along, have a good ol' sing song, get some chants going and meet likeminded Blues fans hoping to have fun and enjoy the most beautiful game on earth!
There are so many reasons to try out Section 112:
- A great view of all the action, with ‘rover seating' situated on and around the 22m line.
- It's perfectly positioned between the Ninian Stands two main bars, with a temporary bar also set up between them - so getting a few beers shouldn't be a problem!
- Close to the loos - so if you really can't wait, you shouldn't miss too much of the action!
- There's no rush to get there, as there is with the halfway line seats, which means you can enjoy one or two extra pre-match drinks knowing there'll be a seat waiting for you come the all important kick off.
- But best of all, be part of a growing Cardiff Blues community which wins together and sings together!
While most would admit Cardiff have never had the most vocal of fans, we are a passionate, respectful and loyal group who reward good play with cheers and ovations. Let's regain that identity and bring along some atmosphere for the players and fans alike!
So Saturday 18th, please come along to aisle 112 for what should be a huge clash with the Newport Gwent Dragons - what better way to kick start Project One-Twelve!

Like I've said on the other posts, this is a great idea! I'm always up for cheering the Blues on, especially when we need it the most, but it's hard to get the chants/songs going yourself! For example, the last game of the Magners last season against Munster, which if we had won by a few more points could have put us into the playoffs, I felt like I was the only one in the crowd who wanted to win that game! Hopefully with all of us sat together, the crowd will naturally join in! I do think that we desperately need more songs or chants to sing though!
Also, I'm one for respecting the goal kickers no matter who they are, what they have done, or what has just happened. Does anyone else besides me think that we need to give the kickers more silence and try not to put him off. The Irish fans do it, and I have great respect for them!

Hey Boogie totally agree with you about the Munster game/needing more chants/and the respect for the kicker. Personally i believe that a kicker would be more put off by absolute silence than anything else and it shows great respect, although i am guilty of a bit of booing when the magners refs all too often get it wrong.
What chants and songs are top of our list? Perhaps we could hold a poll? I think a few more allez les bleus chats and typical songs would be great, a simple BLUES! one is also top of my list, and whoever had the idea of that Dan Parks song to the tune of parklife - brilliant!

As I said on another thread, a cracking idea and I'll be there for the dragons game and beyond. Has been a source of frustration over the years how quiet we can be as a crowd for home games, looking forward to being amoungst like minded souls.
Also totally agree with keeping quiet during kickers shots at goal, surely complete silence is much more intimidating than cildish howls and whistles.

Great idea, can I suggest meeting prior to kick off in the supporters area under the Canton stand? Congregate around the CBSC tables/section and get to meet each other before the game?

Same here - I'm in aisle 114. Very happy to make some noise though.
i agree with the silence for the kicker 2. is there any chance we could have a section on here were all the songs and chants are so people like me who dont know them very well can learn the words easier.

Yeah i will do. but i know how quick these threads fill up and if you dont come on for a few weeks its a bit time consuming reading through pages and pages. plus new members might not think to look on this thread and the important thing is that as many people as possible learn the new chants/songs. just a idea anyway

Well done to you all. It was my first visit to the stadium on Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. Having accepted that we will never return to CAP I will attend some more games. I doubt I will ever be a season ticket holder again as getting home from a 7.10 k.o. is problematic. However, I look forward to joining in the noise at the big games. We have taken our family to games for the last 20 years and feel that kids need to be engaged in some noise to keep their interest - after all, if the kids are happy it makes it so much easier for us parents.

This is a great idea. I hate the fact were at the city stadium for any number of reasons which have been discussed on this site.

Need to get thinking on some songs, def need a song about Marseilles !

i like this. think we should def show rush how much we appreciate him staying. either this or an other song dedicated to him.
The Rush song sounds too much like a Cardiff City song that is used quite frequently, I'm afraid it might be seen as that if we use it. But if everyone else is happy with it, so am I.

Suggestions for chants have been coming in on there too.
Going to have a sit down, with a couple of other members and pick some of the best and then send an email or post on here, which ones we would be most likely to use on Saturday so everyone can learn them beforehand.

Yo all, just joined the Facebook group and will be loitering around 112 for the Dragons game.
My only suggestion at this stage is the simple "Come-on-you....Bluuuues' a la 'Come on you Bath' or 'Come on you Saints' etc.
Think this is a great idea. It's only the 2nd season at Leckwith so these things may take time but something like this could be just what the ground needs (along with more fans!)

Good shout Dim, was always the 'chant of choice' over the years, home and away.
Remember the Sarries game at Watford, European cup (Pieter Muller era), Craig Quinnell and Jamie Robinson tries I think.

great idea to get some singing going , we really need to create some atmosphere at the ccs ,myself and littleblue will be joining in from the other side . so come on ccs lets hear you .

Let's sing Welsh songs! Hymns and Arias, Bread of Heaven, We'll keep a welcome etc. We were singing some of those at Wasps and it was cracking atmosphere!
yes rhys the blues fans made a great noise at the wasps , sent shivers to hear all the usual welsh songs and not a red shirt in sight .so lets hear it again 2nite .
Much better atmosphere last night . The more simple chants and songs worked, hymns and arias, allez les blues chants got going a bit and plenty of cardiff and blues shouts . We need to keep it up, it was never going to be easy. Lots of people are happier moaning about how good the CAP was but we are not going there so let's just make the best of what we got. I will be back in112 for connaught game. More people will pick up on it if we keep it up.
I think it's a great idea but I have to admit, I was expecting more. We sat in 113, and didn't hear much rowdyness. Enjoyed the guy playing the trumpet/cornet down the other end. Perhaps someone from The Blue should give him a season ticket and get him down to 112
Give it time - I thought it was a very noticeable improvement on the atmosphere. The key thing is to keep it going.
Rome wasnt built in a day. We must move this forward and spread the word. 11,000 + supporters with few from the Dragons, having looked at the other gates in the Magners and the Guinness, the gate stacked up well.

We need to sing Casey's song louder cos he says he can't hear it and he is gutted by that. He really wants to hear it now people have told him about it.
one twelve gaining momemtum,pity the game didn't give us much to sing about.
When the game is better the singing and atmosphere will be better; though there was a decent crowd the game didn't give us anything to shout about.

Just need to be consistent and people will join in, don't be scared to keep on singing.
working well is the cardiff blues, allez allez allez, even if you're not joining in with your voice, join in with the clapping and it will encourage others!
Someone should get onto the people who sort out the stadium music, after a penalty or try scored they should play a consistent song, like the scarlets play sospan fach, i think they played U2 on thursday, if they played an intro of 'why why why delilah' or 'hymns and arias' after each score then people could carry on the singing (i liked the tom jones sing song! much more effective than any other chant!)

Personally I dont like it when a song is played after a score at other clubs, it sounds proper naff.
Plus the PA is so dodgy at Leckwith it would probably sound even more @#$%&. You'd think they could have sorted out the problems the announcer has EVERY game by now, it always breaks off mid-sentence. It's embarassing

I agree it is good to see issues acknowledged in the media (indeed the interview with Peter Thomas does not go far enough) but I do think your generalisation of those in 112 is a bit too, general?

My only generalisation is that they (the aisle 112 pepes) are supposed to be noisy (vocal for their team).
So why not use that to make directors aware of their feelings about any concerns for their team.......

A suggestion inspired by the 'Pilou Pilou' of Toloun, RIGHT before the kick off of each game, when the players are on the pitch, play a video on that big screen of fans chanting the 'Cardiff Blues, allez allez allez' at the final last year, with this cue people would (very hopefully, perhaps) join in with at least the clapping along, building up a little atmosphere at the start which would hopefully be a base to build upon for a noisier crowd.
Maybe this could be extended onto the scoring, as previously discussed.

As one of the 112's who can be heard to try to innitiate some noise esp.'Cardiff Blues, allez allez allez' I could be tempted to add my vocal talents(?!),
i heard some allez and hymns and arias yesterday! a (real) 10k and the best atmosphere in the ccs for a blues game ever?
Certainly up there. There was a good amount of noise coming from the 112-113 section. Lots of Allez les Blues chants, as well as the old Carr-difff one.
The Heineken Cup makes the difference mind, as does a good travelling support.

Does anyone know how much truth there is in the increased rumours of a return to CAP ... or is it just falling attendances sparking the inevitable rumour mill?
Does anyone think that a re-focus on 112 and other matchday enhancing projects would help to please an increasingly disgruntled fanbase?
I'm still convinced that a pro-active attitude can make the CCS a worthwhile home, even if it never will be the CAP.

Right so according to the new chief exec the move back is out of the question...
Time to put it behind us and unite as a fan group, I believe we can do alot to help each other enjoy the matchday experience more so than currently and will be putting together a list of ideas to submit to the blues.
If anyone has any (pro-active) ideas on how we can improve the experience at the CCS feel free to tweet me @finchy1989 or leave a comment here and i'll see that they are submitted.

Well, fair play to u lot on sunday, you lot tried very hard to get the crowd bouncing, its a big shame, that its too big of a place to get bouncing with grannies and little kids mostly in attendance, you'll never get a rugby atmosphere in a football ground, Your ship is sinking. You should boycott the team if they fail to return to the arms park. That was the biggest game of the season and they failed to fill the stadium half full. surely how can you be happy with that!!.

Its not the players fault we play at the CCS and the stadium is half full. Could be something to do with the Blues catchment area and the dislike for Cardiff in the valleys.

agree with the great on your feet noise and flags. for me though sitting in games with people making more effort to go back to the bar, food outlet, toilet or generally anything BUT watch the game is a big problem. In the family stand where i sit its a constant battle with this. Yes you want to get bums on seats for ten or one pound but thats counter productive to the atmosphere or enjoyment of other fans. the next thing is this is an entertainment business end of, if you dont invest in the squad then you forfeit the gate. You have to accept that we are a middle to lower end top tier side that will never win the heineken cup. Also gates in ireland vs gates in wales, they dont have the premiership football magnet sucking the life out of all wanna be sports fans over multiple medias.
id also cut the parking from a fiver to something more suitable and ask the new CEO to take a step back and think before making rash comments.
