My big worry is didn't some big name players have a get out on there contract if the above happened? i know for a fact gethin does

IF we have no money, who will replace him?

So far theres been an article in the Evening Stadard linking him with Wasps. Thats it. Bit premature to be baking him a "goodbye and good luck" cake.
Anyway, if he goes I reckon the replacement would be Justin Burnell.

Apparently someone on Radion 5 live tweeted that Dai was asked but amongst other things has concerns over Wasps lack of budget for recruitment and that Neil Back is their 2nd choice candidate.
It is not a done deal yet apparently.

Stu Davies tweeted Graham Thomas of scrumv to ask if he knew anything about it and Graham says the story came out of London and he understands that Dai is not their fav candidate for the job.

5 Live sports news on the radio at 21:30 and 22:00 both said that they belived that Dai Young was very close to signing with Wasps
Bit weird that there hasn't been a BBC Sport article saying the same though

I dont blame him if he leaves having no money to spend would be a big enough reason for me to pack my bag and run away.

It wouldn't surprise me if many of the top players have a similar opt out clause on their contracts.
A new head coach arriving on the scene will usually have different ideas and some players may find themselves warming the bench whereas previously they were in the starting XV. Some may also disagree with these ideas leaving only one satisfactory option open to them; that is to move on elsewhere.
Also, if Dai does leave, then he may want to take one or two players/coaches with him. Obviously, having familiar faces around who know his methods, will help him enormously in the new set up.
The "Dai Young Out" gang should take note.

Seeing as the season is over and the boys are starting a pre season in a couple of days then I would assume Dai signed something otherwise he is surely out of contract and has left last season. The fact that didn't happen we can probably assume he signed a contract and therefore PT won't release him anyway. Wasps are skint anyway

This could be a good move for Young. He's used to coaching a team who is broke and playing at a soccer stadium, so he's got all the right credentials.
The Blues are going nowhere. No new signings and in an untenable financial situation. The squad is rapidly ageing with key players well past their best - Rush, Nugget, Tito, Molitika, Blair - or gaping holes in key positions - no half backs, no props a makeshift FB.
At Wasps, Dai will get to work within the English pyramid which has meaningful fixtures every week. There's also less interference from the Union so he can build his own team with better access to his players. Wasps could again become a force given the wealth in their catchment area and the strong culture of rugger.
Young's made shrewd moves throughout his career. This could be another one.

Knowing when to leave is surely one of life's greatest lessons, few learn it!
My opinion of Dai is that he should leave for both parties sake, alas any names that I would put forward would only reveal my lack of ignorance regarding availability.

Dean Richard might be free soon....and probably fairly cheap?
Talk about jumping the gun, why release a story like this if it's not true or at least wasn't a certainty?

Lazy journalism perhaps and there's nothing to get your teeth into in the response from walesonline either.
No quotes in both articles. Not even a "we refuse to comment at this stage" type stuff. No new info, so where's the story? I can't tell if Dai has even spoken to WASPs or not.
The press and notably the Wester Fail ( or Walesonline in its alter ego! ) have entered the "Silly Season" of writing poorly researched and halrf baked stories which may or may not be based on 1/2 truths. Who knows?
Leaving could be a good move for Dai, but i don't want to see him go, working on a tight budget could be the PR that he needs-he's a good coach as we all know and succes next season would increase his capital a lot and next season he might be out of contract; If I was PT, i would get that extension in front of him a.s.a.p

There you go again Dim Building up my hopes! These players and coaches didnt do a lot for us last season and I am sure a lot of supporters would welcome the new brush etc.Hope Parks would be his number 1 to take with him if/when he goes!

Thought as much it was on BBC news as well. Cant blame the old Aberdarian Fair does he survived the fans boos and took us to Heineken Semis Anglo Welsh title and Amlin winners. It certainly went flat last year though and a couple of singnings were real clangers However he made some great ones too.
I cant see any great coaches out there available though Like others dont rate Howley Welsh backs arent doing much too lateral not enough creativity bit like blues but at least we've got Laulaula
Dont rate Phil Davies had a short purple patch with Scarlets and left under cloud from Leeds Think he's coaching Worcester anyway.
However hopefully whoever it is will get the forwards going and win quick ball,hitting rucks and not streched out amongst backs. At the end of the day though we need a decent 10 as well as a new coach now. PT get your wallet out

If he has contract with the blues he should honour it in my books. He has been given a lot time to build a quality team he hasn't done so. Really he should have gone many year ago. Two Trophies in nine season for a team like the Blues is unacceptable. Young's selection at 10 cost us last season and Peter Thomas cost cutting will cost in the next. Sorry but I like Dai Young but I don't think he's the Next Welsh Coach and I wouldn't give him the job because his lack of experience.

Just because we come under the banner "cardiff" does not give us a god given right to win trophys, Dai in his 9 odd years in charge has only really had full board backing money wise and a decent team for about 3 of those, in those 3 we got to a euro semi and won two trophys not bad in my books. I think he has done a great job with what he has had to work with and think if he does leave only then will see what a great coach he has been.

I never said he's a bad coach and I LIKE HIM but his decisions this season hasn't been the best. No the title of Cardiff doesn't give anyone 'the god give right to win trophys' including Cardiff RFC. My opinion is that the Cardiff should be dropped so then expectations aren't so high and we aint living in the limelight of the old Cardiff. Technically

Youngs selections at 10 weren't the reason for last years failures. Rather the mistake that was made in the physical preparation of the players for new law interuptations, that never happened, that DP was unable to add what we would all like to see happening at 10 was not the fault of DY>>>
And quite why dropping the word CARDIFF from the teams title will help in way possible on OR off the pitch is baffling to say the least. We need the name more than ever, whilst the rest of the rugby world STILL hold it in high esteem!!!!

It was not Dan Park's fault alone (but he was bloody awfull) that we did badly last year Problems started up front where we didnt hit rucks hard enough win quick ball etc Also there seemed to be an absence of a game plan The forewards were often seen spread out across the field amongst the backs They got in the way slowed things down Dia for all his past achievements must hold some responsibility for this.However Im sorry to see him go we did win some trophies and reached semis of Heineken cup Which is as much as any other region.shamfull as that is.
As for Cardiff being dropped I havent got a problem with that We are a region The region runs from Brecon Treherbet Aberdare Llantrisant Barry etc etc Even the dragons have fully embrassed regionalism

This "physical preparation" you mention. I've heard it suggested before, but what does it mean exactly with regards to the new laws? What wasn't done that should've been and does it involve winning lineouts and scrums or is it just to do with the breakdown?

you can't lay the blame at Dan Parks door, yes he was not great, but then neither were the 14 others around him.
It very easy when things go wrong to blame one single player, its harder to look at the bigger picture and just admit as a collective we were cr@p

Did just read that Mallett is out of contract the day after RWC final and Italy have told him he wont get a new one!!!
So no compo payment needed, i imagine we could offer a decent(ish) wage. i am clutching at straws i know but i can at least dream

Compare that to our last accounts where the loss was around 700,000 and I think Dai is in for a real challenge at Wasps. In some ways though it is ideal for him because if he achieves anything other than relegation he will be seen as having broadened his experience without the pressure of Welsh rugby. He has no HC to worry about next season and if he gets Wasps to qualify for the next one the fans will be happy.

Fair investment in the squad close season and some cracking youngsters - Launchbury, Jones, Wade, Daly.
I believe that Dai will also get a bit more cash to add one or two if he sees fit.
Last season we lost 11 league matches - apart from 2 stuffings by Saints - there were probably 5 or six that we should have won. That would have given us a playoff spot.
Lot of optimism amongst the supporters after a couple of poor seasons.
