Cardiff Blues accounts - some edited highlights

Woops!

Needless to say, if you've no interest in rugby poltics and want to stick to what happens on the field (can't blame you) its best to look away now....

Cardiff Rugby Football Club Ltd published their accounts up to the end of May 2012 this week. Some edited highlights:

We lost £3.8 million.

The cost of using the Cardiff City Stadium was just under £1 million a season.

The one off charge for leaving the Cardiff City Stadium was “a sizable amount”.

So, I'll leave it up to you to figure out just how much the stadium move ended up costing us.

I've decided that I'm never, ever under any circumstances going to talk about the CCS move again. But, suffice to say that as someone who didn't think the move was a particularly good idea, its sobering to realise that it was an even bigger cock up than I'd previously thought.

Anyway, life and Cardiff rugby moves on... This season's seen a 33% increase in season ticket sales and a 66% increase in revenue. This is obviously good news, but obviously to maintain it the performances on the field will have to justify it.

One other interesting detail – Martyn Williams is still involved, as part of the “Recruitment and Retention Panel”.

I'd write something about how the potential sale of the Arms Park might affect our position, particularly regarding the debt being built up, but thats maybe best saved for a discussion thread. Interesting times ahead. As ever.

If you want to read the full accounts, they're available on the Companies House website for a quid.

The cost of the CCS £1million PA. Where did I hear that before?

Thank God we got out!

How did they get it so badly wrong? Were they ever seriously expecting to make the sort of revenue to cover that loss? Unbelievable.

The potential sale of CAP will be hot news over the next 12-24 months. Always interesting being a Cardiff Rugby supporter...

Aye.
That is definitely much more than the max cost we were told it would be.
