The Cardiff Blues today announced that prop Ben Evans would be leaving the region for new pastures in England. The former Welsh interantional agreed a 2-year deal with league leaders Sale as the Blues continue their clearout.

The ruthlessness of Cardiff's transfer policy has shown few signs of slowing, the region's most recent casualty, Ben Evans, joins fellow Blue Lee Thomas and one-time Blue Johnny Bryant at his new home at Edgely Park.

Evans signed for Cardiff from Swansea in 2001, and has spent 5 successul years at the club and region. But with the arrival of Gary Powell in the summer, Evans is seen as surplus in the squad, and released on a free transfer.

Evans' depature will come as little suprise, the 27-times-capped Welshman has featured little for the Blues since Gethin Jenkins signing 2 years ago, even featuring for the RFC side on a number of occasions in recent weeks.

It brings the total confirmed out list to 5 now, with Thomas, Ryan Powell, Maama Molitika and Kort Schubert all confirmed as leaving.

However, many more are expected to follow suit, whether they end up someone as successful as Ben, remains to be seen.

As for players coming in the squad, Brent Cockbaine's name has once agin been mentioned (as reported her many moons ago), and more recently, former Cardiff player Gareth Thomas has also been linked with a return to Wales.

Both would be greatly recieved by fans, with a dream Welsh lock partnership, and a solid full back alowing electric Rhys Williams to move onto the wing.

It may be all terraced-talk once more, but anyone of decent standard arriving would be a huge relief for the fans, who has once again seen another squad member leave through whats increasingly becoming, 'The Arms Park Turnstile'.
