The Cardiff Blues have released an official statement regarding the future of head cocah, Dai Young.

In response to media speculation circulating current head coach Dai Young with a move to join the Saracens, Blues Cheif Executive, Bob Norster, has released an official statement which reads;

"Recent comments in the press remain pure speculation. David Young remains in a long term contract with Cardiff Blues, as one of leading young coaches in the game naturally there has been external interest in his services. However, to date we have received no formal contact from any third party."

How to interpret this is as yet unclear. The key word here is 'remian' which suggests that this is only the current situation. That could meanthat the link between Saracens and Dai is true, but he is yet to offically announce his position. Another question is why Dai himself has not come forward to extinguish rumours if they are indeed false.

The final sentence about 'formal contact' is irrelavant. Saracens will only come and seek formal contact if they believe Dai is willing to go, and they will need to discuss a compensation packet with the Blues board, as Young is still under contract.

I doubt this is the last we'll hear on the matter, but for the moment at least, Young remains a Blue, and will be going into these final 2 games looking to secure top Welsh region. The penultimate game of the season, and final 'home' match will be against Leinster on Sunday, 6.10pm at the Millenium Stadium. You'll be pleased to know the clubhouse will be open as usual!
