theArmsPark.co.uk Exclusive! The Llanelli Scarlets have been in contact with Cardiff RFC starlet, Jamie Roberts, over a regional contract in West Wales.

I can EXCLUSIVELY reveal that the Scarlets, who have been trailing the youngster all season, have offered Jamie Roberts a development contract with the regional side for next season, however Roberts turned down the offer, saying he only wants to play for Cardiff and the Blues.

 

The full back, who is studying medicine in Cardiff Uni, was not one of the players given a Blues development contract this week, though he is contracted as a academy player. He has stated that he intends to complete his degree while playing semi-pro with Cardiff RFC, then on graduation, turn his attention to the Cardiff Blues and regional rugby.

 

Roberts is a tremendously hot prospect, and has been consistently performing for the RFC. He is undoubtedly regional quality already, but by choice, he is remaining semi-pro for another 2 years.

 

His latest show of allegiance is brilliant news for the club and region, who see Roberts as key in both their plans. Its also good news, as its thought the Ospreys and Dragons are also interested in signing him up, and has supposedly attracted interest from England and France.

 

Born and bred in Cardiff, he has an affiliation to the Arms Park having supported and played for them from a young age.

 

It’s another great boost for fans, who have had nothing but good news in the last few months, as at last the Cardiff Blues really look like a side capable of winning some silverware. This latest piece of news just furthers the buoyant mood and shows the future is looking bright.
