This is the story of Back
Not like by a tall bloke by Jack
Jack said "You're too small
You won't win the ball
You're not going to play in my pack"

Now many years later it seems
The mainstay of most England teams
Neil went into the hole
And then dropped the goal
"This is the stuff of my dreams"

Against Munster - you know they're Irish
With O'Gara, whose kicking is pish
The ball went in the scrum
With Tiggs under the thumb
MB-ers everywhere started to fish

"That's not right" came the loud roar
For months - it started to bore
But the real big pig
Was that the man with the wig
Scored the try that defeated The Claw

Now the prize is not really for me
It's for Jinette at work you see
Cos for the first time I forgot
Like a big Saintly clot
Her programme on November Thirty

In red white and green
He'll always be seen
Trying his hardest
And being real mean.

He's not very tall
But he gets us the ball
And we think him a giant
One and all.

He's number 7 in the pack
He is that legend Neil Back.

There once was a TIGER called NEIL BACK,
In height some said he did lack!
But all would agree,
It is quite plain to see,
He's awesome in defence and attack!

That tasty calender in his benefit year,
certainly did give us some cheer,
But now we all know,
that he's raring to go,
& win more trophies throughout the whole year!

Out of hand a kick upfield
Lets see what this attack will yield
A lineout on the 5 metre line
A catch and drive, Oh sublime
The Tigers pack in a driving maul
Watch yourself Neil Back has the ball
Come left go right the scrum halfs cry
It's Backy for another try!

Duncan Keene

Arise, Sir Back,
From the feet of the pack,
another great try from a maul,
never forget,
to put on a bet,
that Backy'll emerge with the ball,
"He's too short!" they exclaimed,
Jonah Lomu was maimed,
The Tigers had seen it before,
From Orrell to Quins,
he'd given us wins,
through ingenious work on the floor,
Vital scores, massive hits,
mean that he's the dog's bits,
with bravery, desire and flair,
then you see 'the backhander',
and what he did to Lander,
and realise he's just a good player.

Cherrybomb

there was a man called back
who often supported the pack
but while in wales
his sportsmanship fails
and he strikes the ball, how cack

Backy Backy Backy
Our favourite player by far,
All other players,
All openside players,
Well, they just don't match to his par.

Out with a fractured cheekbone this week
But soon he'll be back to his peak,
To cause havoc in play,
To out run Ben Kay,
And to make all others look weak

His testimonial year is here,
And i'm sure we'll all buy him a beer,
Then Auzzy in Autumn,
Where Backy will sort 'em
And bring back the cup with a cheer!
